Now we move to day five of the Creation Week and we read in Genesis 1:20-21 that God stocked the oceans and the atmosphere on His earth with life. Now the ocean swarmed with marine creatures, and flying things filled the air (see Note 8). God had now begun to stock this life-support system called earth with various kinds of living creatures.

Some of these creatures were exotic flying things like the birds of paradise. Others were marine creatures like the trilobites. Trilobites are the crab-like creatures often claimed to be evidence for evolution. They are often said to have evolved about six hundred million years ago, yet there is nothing particularly evolutionary about trilobites. Trilobites are similar, in fact, to present day crabs, and they are simply marine creatures dating from day five of the Creation Week. Of course all the "ordinary" birds and fish also date from day five, but also on day five came reptilian flyers like the pterodactyl, and reptilian swimmers like the plesiosaurus.
